Why Do The Same People Keep Triggering Me?
Every leader has experienced it.
The colleague who frustrates you more than they should.
The team member who seems to push your buttons.
The partner, friend or family member who can evoke emotions that feel completely disproportionate to the situation.
Why does this happen?
And why do the same types of people keep showing up in our lives?
In this workshop we explore one of the most overlooked aspects of leadership and personal development:
The people who trigger us often reveal something important about ourselves.
Many of the frustrations, conflicts and recurring relationship challenges we experience are not simply about the other person.
They can be invitations to greater self-awareness, compassion and growth.
Core Learning Objectives
Participants will:
Understand why certain people trigger strong emotional reactions
Recognise the stories they create about others
Explore projection and unconscious relationship patterns
Identify what their triggers may reveal about themselves
Develop more compassionate and conscious responses
Leave with a practical next step

This month’s webinar looks at how avoidance, people-pleasing and conflict shape your leadership and relationships
Most leadership problems are not really strategy problems. They are conversation problems.
The conversation you are avoiding.
The truth you are not saying.
The boundary you are not setting.
The feedback you are delaying.
The need you are not expressing.
In our first webinar,Β Leadership Under Pressure, we explored how pressure reveals our default patterns. In our second,Β Why Smart Leaders Still Self-Sabotage, we looked at how those patterns often begin as protection strategies.
This third workshop takes the next step:
How do those patterns show up in our relationships, teams and conversations?
Many capable leaders find themselves avoiding difficult conversations, softening the truth, over-explaining, rescuing others, staying silent, becoming defensive, or trying to keep everyone happy. These behaviours are often understandable. They may even have helped us succeed. But over time, they can create distance, resentment, confusion and a loss of trust.
This free, reflective leadership workshop will help you explore:
- the conversations you may be avoiding
- what that avoidance is protecting
- the hidden cost to you, your team and your relationships
- how to move from avoidance into compassionate honesty
- what a braver, clearer conversation might sound like
This is not a lecture.
It is an interactive workshop with short teachings, guided reflection and practical exercises to help you apply the work directly to your own leadership and life.
You will leave with a clearer understanding of one conversation you need to have, what has been making it difficult, and how to approach it with more courage, clarity and compassion.
This session is for middle and senior leaders, founders, business owners, coaches and high-performing professionals who want to lead with greater honesty, emotional intelligence and relational depth.
If you have ever thought:
βI know something needs to be said, but I keep avoiding itβ¦β
then this workshop is for you.

In this workshop, we explore one of the most important truths in leadership and human behaviour:
Many of the patterns that limit us today were once strategies that protected us.
Under pressure, leaders often repeat unconscious patterns such as control, perfectionism, emotional shutdown, overworking, people pleasing, defensiveness or avoidance. These behaviours can appear highly functional on the surface, but over time they often create disconnection, tension, burnout and reduced trust in teams and relationships.
This session explores how self-sabotage is rarely random. More often, it is a form of self-protection shaped by earlier experiences, environments and conditioning.
Through reflective exercises and practical leadership tools, we explored how to:
Recognise repeating patterns across leadership, relationships and life
Understand what these patterns may be protecting
Explore the impact they have on teams, communication and emotional culture
Begin interrupting automatic reactions with greater awareness and choice
Create healthier internal agreements grounded in presence, honesty and compassion
This workshop is not about blame or self-criticism.
It is about recognising the unconscious strategies we carry, understanding why they exist, and developing the capacity to respond differently.
This is the foundation of compassionate, emotionally intelligent leadership β where awareness replaces automaticity, presence replaces protection, and connection replaces control.

Leadership Under Pressure β Workshop 1 - Resources
In this workshop, we explored one of the most important truths in modern leadership:
Under pressure, we donβt rise β we default to our conditioning.
With increasing demands, complexity, and constant pressure, many leaders find themselves stuck in reactive patterns such as control, withdrawal, overdrive, or emotional shutdown. Over time, this can lead to burnout, reduced trust, and lower team performance.
This session introduces a simple but powerful framework to help leaders:
-
Identify personal triggers under pressure
-
Recognise default behavioural patterns
-
Understand the hidden cost on teams and wellbeing
-
Build new, intentional responses grounded in calm, clarity, and presence
Through practical tools including breathwork, nervous system regulation, and visualisation, we show how leadership capacity can be trained β not through force, but through awareness and practice.
This is the foundation of compassionate, emotionally intelligent leadership β where regulation replaces reactivity, and connection replaces control.
